Voice encryption solution for Apple iPhones commended by the German Federal Office for Information Security

Bonn/Berlin, September 16, 2019 – Deutsche Telekom announced today that the German Federal Office for Information Security BSI cleared Telekom Security’s Mobile Encryption App for end-to-end encrypted mobile phone calls at classification level RESTRICTED. This makes the Mobile Encryption App the first and only voice encryption solution that has been approved by BSI for classified government communications on Apple iPhones and iPads.

The Mobile Encryption App offers the strongest encryption algorithms currently available on the global market. Encryption keys are generated locally on the mobile device, ensuring that all key material is under exclusive control of the user. Deutsche Telekom operates the switching infrastructure for the Mobile Encryption App from its German data centers, providing the German federal government with a 100% domestically controlled and operated mobile voice encryption system.

GSMK developed the Mobile Encryption App for Deutsche Telekom and is continuously expanding the software’s functionality. The latest, BSI-approved version of the app for Apple iOS devices includes an interface to secure container software “SecurePIM Government” (also certified by BSI for classification level RESTRICTED) which allows both applications to securely access a joint classified contact data base. The Mobile Encryption App can be installed on any iPhone or iPad, and enables unlimited end-to-end encrypted phone calls between its subscribers.
